The Headshop

The HEADSHOP opened its doors in 1968 as a unique shop. As unique as it was then, it remains today. Forty years ago some young people started THE HEADHOP (the only true one) in Amsterdam. With a passion for scouring the globe for great pipes, handmade jewellery, fabrics, incense and oils, the shop quickly became “THE” place to get quality merchandise for the TRUE HEADS. In the years that followed many people found this shop to be an ideal place for finding small gifts and great souvenirs to remind them of their trip to Amsterdam! The goods found in THE HEADSHOP are different from what you will find in the more commercial “chain” type of souvenir shops that are found nearly everywhere else. As the smartshop -“boom” began, THE HEADSHOP already had more experience than the competition because we had been involved with “the scene” long before smartshops became popular. Information on many subjects is available and the staff are more than willing to help you out. The shop itself is decorated beautifully, with all sorts of eye-catching items brought over by the owners, collected personally during trips to Nepal, India, Thailand, Bali, Hawaïi, Mexico, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, North Africa and other exotic destinations. It is not hard to find THE HEADSHOP. All you have to do is walk down the Damstraat away from the Dam-Monument, passing the first two canals until you come to the THIRD CANAL . THE HEADSHOP is the blue shop at the right side corner in front of you.
